Hi,
does anyone use a mount/bayonett replacement kit of this company with a SD9/SD14 or SD15 Sigma cam ?
My consideration is to buy a SD15 (available at present for approx. 360 € new without lens), replace the original mount with that one from the company above and use this with my Contax Carl Zeiss lenses.
I know that the SD14/15 will have some limitations (no high ISO, slow, no live view etc) but for MF lenses I believe it could be ok and at the end this solution will be cheaper rather than I would modify my number of CZ lenses with a leitax bayonett each.
Thanks.

I did the same with an SD14 and Zuiko lenses. very simple and works fine, although I still had to adapt some of the zuikos by removing the baffle and auto arm which got in the way of the sd14. Not a problem though as they can easily be put back if needed.
The 55/1.2 zuiko, which was the main reason for this set up, was ok without modification though. _________________ Film... and sometimes SD14, 5D2 and some other suff! |

Many thanks for your quick reply.
Do you believe that the "normal" final results (IQ etc) of your combo (SD14/Zuikos) are today still ok compared perhaps with a NEX-5/7 (of course, no high ISO etc) ?
As far as I know the SD15 was only a slight improvement of the SD14.
Thanks

I think my repair man can do it for you he can canibalize a contax mount from yashica or contax faulty body built into your new camera. Honestly I never seen better result from any Sigma what you have already. _________________ -------------------------------

Thanks Attila.
Not sure that this is so easy. Ordered few minutes ago a new SD15 for 359 € (without lens) and at Sigmacumlaude a C/Y replacement kit for the SD15.
Approx. in 2 weeks I will have the first results and then I will know whether the investment was a good idea or for the trash.

Never tried and SD15 but, yes, I think the sensor was the same and only the jpeg engine thing changed. So no real difference. the attraction for me, apart from a very cheap SD14, was the black and white prints you could make which seemed much more like a 'real' print than a digital conversion. The main use for me was/is portraits although it doesn't so much use now as I've built a darkroom to do it properly now. I'd still do the same with an SD1 if I had the spare cash.
I'm going to have to get it out and play now you've got me thinking about it... _________________ Film... and sometimes SD14, 5D2 and some other suff! |

Great idea. Show us your results pls (asap)
PS: Perhaps one day the SD1 Merrill will come down with the price in the same region as the SD15 now. _________________ Rolf |
