Finally received it from Germany (the body, I already had the lens). Don't know if it works, it should although. Leathers stick to your finger and plastic top casing is like eggshell but I don't care.
How long is it appropriate just to fiddle it without turning it on and putting a film in it?
edit: yes and somebody please answer this question

The leather (not real leather surely) on these seems to always go bad.
First thing I would do is re-cover it.

Yes, I just have to decide the fabric. Some sort of wove fabri could be nice?
I'm not sure about the structure of the top. Looks like brass. It's so worn I have to fix it somehow but don't think that is a serious problem? _________________ MF: Kodak DCS SLR/c; Samsung NX10; OM-10; Canon T50

You can remove all black paint too :
(not my camera nor my picture)
I followed the idea of luisalegria for a (not anymore fully) black Minolta SRT101. |

But part of the brass has gone too partially. I see the white part under it. It can't cause light leak I think but if it wears more I can see the electronics inside. _________________ MF: Kodak DCS SLR/c; Samsung NX10; OM-10; Canon T50

Thats aluminum then.
Put a piece of leather behind the rings to stop more wear. _________________ I like Pentax DSLR's, Exaktas, M42 bodies of all kinds, strange and cheap Japanese lenses, and am dabbling in medium format/Speed Graphic work. |
