Is the Enna Lithagon 35mm 3.5 a decent lens? I have heard that Ennas are average lenses at best, is this true?

I placed a bid on this lens with a top price of 56.99 USD, somebody bid it up to 57.99. I was wondering what a fair price for this lens would be.

Thanks,
Kevin

I have a Enna Munchen 240/4.5, very small regarding focal/aperture, it seems to be rather good, but weak construction : some aperture blades went out their rails so I can't use it anymore Rolling Eyes

I think you can find something much better for a better price. Research the mir-1B. I have the mir-1 which is zm39 mount and it is fantastic.

got one last week and took it out on the beach today
It was advertised on our local auction site as "Micky mouse lense.not for serious photographer" The photograph of the lens looked old and german made so i couldn't resist and won it for 3.5 South African Rand (1/3 US Dollar) Very Happy
Here are pics of the lens and some images with their crops

It was partly overcast with hasy conditions ,the lens focus tends to turn if you stop down so most images were taken wide open or f 5.6

You be the judge! Very Happy

Hi Attilla

Due to the fact that zeiss and all the russian glas are as scarce as chicken teeth in South Africa and i only have 2 german lenses so far Embarassed
I must get lucky more often Laughing

I Think because the previous goverment in the 1960's to 1980's was very anti comunist no russian goods were imported at all
I have never seen porst zenit Helios or any russian lens with my own eyes ever! Shocked

Yes, Luckyman!! Congratulations.

Seems to be a lens with great potential. Perhaps not so sharp but nice colors and medium contrast.

And at that price......... Wink

Congrats Daniel! Very nice shots and that with the cheaper 4 lens version of the 35mm. There is a f2.8 which has some advanced 6 lens design.

I collect ENNA lenses and use from from time to time - maybe because I personally know the man who once developed them.
Some are still very sharp and contrasty lenses, but not up to par with Zeiss. Avoid the later plastic ones, although the glass is good, the mechanics are not that great.

The Ennalyt f1.5/85mm double Gauss design is a rare collectors piece and very nice glass - am I correct Attila?

Hi Attila
Thats the only online one here but i have never bought something there

The main gear available here are the japanese stuff like pentax minolta nikon canon olympus yashica and some german and some east german
The more expensive german stuff is scarce Zeiss hassleblad but can still get
Third party stuff like the kmount tamrons tokinas cpc from 1980 to now is not scarce
Most of the russian , french, european glass are only available online and you will never see any on fleamarket or secondhand shops

But the really old folders is a dime a dozen plenty kodak zeiss agfa and more

I think this guys has Ebay shop too, perhaps worth to check it out and try purchase online.

Zeiss folders can be good deal if you found a working one.
If you need Russian glasses or East Germans let me know I can sell you some pieces in one batch to make postal costs to more economical.

Im keeping my eyes open for al german made glas now, because it is not that common around here ,if you find some , the seller normally do not know the value

Thanks for the suggestion, but I already own the 37mm 2.8 Mir. Very Happy

I wanted to give the Enna a try because I have never used one but dont think 60.00 USD sounds like a fair price on the lens. I'll let it go and hope another shows up at a better price soon.
