Lens: Schneider-Kreuznach Xenon 40mm f/1.9 (Robot screw mount)
Camera: NEX-5

My blog entry: >>> Click here <<<

Two real-life images, both at f/11. One color, the other B/W. Look at the light bloom...

Out-of-focus rendering (pictures taken at minimum focussing distance):
f-stops: f/1.9 - f/2.8 - f/4 - f/5.6 - f/8 - f/11 - f/16

The lack of contrast suggests of some kind of fault. Are you sure your lens is healthy?

Also take a look at the following thread:

Xenon 1.9/40 on Robot, first photos fuji superia 200

Without extensive P&P, this is the kind of result you get. Later Xenon versions probably have better contrast.
My copy has several cleaning marks, but nothing that can explain the bloom.

I put mine quickly on 5DmkII and didn't notice the bloom. I could only try it at less then 50cm distance due to different flange. Maybe Klaus (kds315*) can clarify this since he also made nice series: http://www.flickr.com/photos/kds315/sets/72157625264599767/with/5094445082

The lens is hazy inside, could be seen on teh 1st lens photo already. Get it cleaned and the issue is gone.

I think you really have a faulty lens. This is what mine does mounted on a Panasonic GH2, it produces clear and bright colored images.

Since I found images with a comparable effect, I considered it to be an "authentic" effect rather then a technical issue. I didn't know that haze could have this kind of influence.

I'll have the lens repaired, thanks for telling me.
