I finally picked up a medium format SLR today. In Milwaukee, on the first day of my vacation, I found a thrift store. LOTS of cameras. Maybe 100 including Voigtlander Brilliants (two), Argus RFs, and a few 35mm stereo cameras. In general, fair to steep prices. Many were not in good shape -- most having come from a hoarder's home. I almost -- ALMOST -- bought a Voigtlander TLR until the owner produced the camera I did buy, a Pentax 67 (original) sporting a TTL prism and with a 55mm Takumar, 105mm Takumar, and 200mm Takumar. Whole kit, $580 with tax. So that's a huge outlay for me and more-than-doubled the entire amount I had allotted for non-dinner purchases for the whole week.

That said, I'm glad I did it. I put in a fresh battery (the old owner had the great-good sense to remove the previous battery) and it fired right up. Two rolls of Ilford film that expired in 1998 came in the case, so it may even get some use this trip.

That is a very nice set, congratulatios!
And at least for this trip you cannot let it homeb ecause of its weight, so you have a good reason to make some samples of what you can get with the beast Laughing Laughing

Sounds like you got a very nice setup at a good price.

Congrats, David, did it come with wooden grip?

No wooden grip, unfortunately. But that's okay. With the 55mm lens, the thing weight like six pounds. In related new, my new workout routine will include putting the camera around my neck and standing up and down.

Yeah, I was really lucky with this find. The lady agreed to sell it to me for that price on the promise that I'll use it. That's not going to be a hard promise to fulfill!

in for a treat!

Is that the large or small(er) version of the 55? The 105 is a superb lens also...

This 55mm lens has a 100mm filter ring diameter. I'm in trouble if I ever lose the lens cap. It's the 55mm 1:3.5, SMC (second version). It's the second of the four versions and one of the two which weighs 920 grams. Does that help? Also, what's the difference between them? Is one better than the other? (I assume so.)

That's the coolest looking 6x7 55 imho. Laughing I never won one tho; they go for crazy prices, but I did win a later 55/4, the first version, for very little $.
