Great captures, the lens is only part of the equation. The camera/lens only captures what you tell it to. The photographer must know what to capture in the first place.

You won't regret it.
When shooting Macro, don't be too much tempted by f2.8 and try f8 or f11 to gain dof.
Don't hesitate to increase Iso to keep the speed ratio above 1/100s.
Another thing, try it for portrait, but there, keep it under f4, or your model will hate you for showing everybody her/his skin defaults. 
I like seeing old topics come back to front.
