Interesting series, David. This equestrian, see the Roman standard, gladius, helm, then we have someone
from the civil war and WWII? What is this called? Looks anti-war to me...

Good eye. The equestrian is Bellona, Roman goddess of war, riding Pegasus. The two soldiers represent volunteers in the Spanish-American War. The statues is huge -- a 16-foot-tall bronze statue atop 10 feet of granite. The soldier figures are a soldier and a fallen soldier, both Americans. I'm not sure if they represent real people, probably not. I'm not sure I'd describe it as anti-war more so than any other memorial, though it could be fairly argued no war memorial can, by definition, be anything other than anti-war. For instance the Vietnam memorial I consider to be strongly anti-war.

This is a great piece and when the building that's about to go in at that intersection is complete, it ought to make a nice backdrop for the memorial.
