The 18-55 kit lens is the widest lens I've got for my crop D3000. For a kit lens I think it produces decent results.

Taken at the same time as the Pentax 67 shots on the bw section of the forum.

The VR kit lens is much better than the older version. This is the one you have, right?

I have both types and to my eye they look the same. And sometimes I just wonder why mess with manual focus lenses, when theres a cracking bit of optics supplied with the camera with pin sharp autofocus.

I'll be honest, we went out for a walk yesterday and I took the NEX with the Minolta 35-70 f3.5 macro. All the wife's photos on her compact Nikon were sharp. On half of mine the focus was out slightly.
