Hi guys,
I just bought the brand new Voigtlander 50mm 1.5 and unfortunately have a problem with that lens. Although the lens looks absolutely like unused and unboxed, the focusing ring goes rather stiffly, with heavy resistance. It goes smoothly, but not as easy as my other manual lenses. I've never had either CV lens or any rangefinder sense to compare, just only SLR lenses.
Another strange thing is that I can turn the focus ring "closer" than MFD. Also strange thing for me.
Do you experienced the same issues with CV 50mm 1.5? Is it the "character" of this lens or should I send it back?
Cheers,
Chris

My old Voigtlander LTM 35/2.5 made the 1980s turns pretty smooth...
Many lenses allows turn the focus ring slightly "closer" than the MFD marking. _________________ The best lens is the one you have with you.

Thanks for response, however it goes smoothly but not easy. I compare to Konica AR 40 1.8 that I used before on my A7s, and Konica's ring goes very easily. |

The focus ring shouldn't be that stiff, it should be relatively easy to turn. _________________ A Manual Focus Junky...

The marking is normal, they just don't want to write 67cm or whatever the exact distance is.
I had a chrome version of this lens, heavier and more expensive, but it is the one to go for.
If I knew that they chrome ones are smoother to focus than the black ones I wouldn't have sold mine.
Too late I guess, maybe another day...
People report the same about the Summilux 50 ASPH although it seems that not all the black ones are stiff to focus. But it seems that the brass is somehow better built and much more consistent. |

I have had mine from new and remember that the focusing felt a bit stiff in the beginning.
Now it feels well damped and i like this. With its relatively short throw it is easier to focus exactly. Oh, well, it is only an opinion:) |
