A world's first at Amelia Island

Until someone proves me wrong, I'll stake claim to being the first ever to photograph a 1962 Ferrari GTO with a Cyclop. For that matter, I can probably claim the same for many other old and rare cars. This past weekend I attended the Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance at the northeast of Florida. I have so many pictures from the past few years that I decided to have some fun with the Cyclop. It really wasn't the best choice for photographing an event like this, especially when the sun was out, but there were some times when I didn't get maxed out on my shutter speed. Still, the bright areas were too much in some pictures, and as usual, I screwed up the focus on some. Here are a series which include a few young lovelies which I enjoyed as much as the cars.

The only Ferrari I would ever part with money for. Granted, it would take a hell of a lot of it.
Now... Lamborghini's, Jag's and for that matter, most other Supercars/hypercars, fall into the "WANT!" category. Sorry Germany, The Porsche's generally make it into the same category as most Ferrari's.

Some lovely cars there, it's good to have some fun with a lens, rather than going for hypersharp, composed, saleable shots. Sometimes it's just good to let rip and fire away.

The last shots is the best shots of the series, the woman is wearing a very classic look and you captured it perfectly.

Thanks to all. It was a bright day - bad for a fully open Cyclop, but good for focusing. Still though, I screwed up, which is very frustrating. I could see it snap into focus with bright clarity, but with this lens, just a little out will show up in the pictures much more than in the viewfinder. Of all the pictures, I'm most disappointed in the one of the young girl in the black top hat and pigtail. I would have loved that picture with a crisp focus. The ladies were very cooperative with people taking their pictures, but of course I would take longer than others because I had to focus, refocus, then shoot. Most of the ladies were too young to remember manual focus, so they probably just thought I was some old guy struggling to get a picture off. I do agree that the pictures of the ladies were much the better subjects for the lens. Had it been more overcast or later in the day, all would have worked out better, but nevertheless I had fun in trying.

One more note about the lens... On certain pictures where I was in clear focus, and the lighting isn't bright, I can see that the lens can be quite sharp.
