Wide open, as all lenses, is poor due to PF and CA, but poorer on older glasses and especially on longer focals. My pentax K200/2.5 is the worst, but also depend on the uses. Snow condition is always a good test. This lens is among my concert lowlight kit. And i really love it when a bit extra light is needed to focus. Let me know if you have faster than f2.5, still looking for pentax A*135/1.8
