Hello,
Two new beauties arrived today in form of canon 55/1.2 fl and canon fd 50/1.4.
The fd lens attaches fine with my FD/NEX adapter (same as this one (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Canon-FD-FL-lens-mount-VG10-FS100-Sony-NEX-NEX-7-NEX-5N-E-mount-adapter-/250929186168?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3a6c8b8578#ht_2702wt_922) but the FL lens doesn't. I have tried several ways but it just comes off and won't lock in properly. Do I need to order a special adapter for the FL lens or I'm missing something obvious?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

The adapter should be fine for both - There is a video in the listing.
Look at the lens with the silver ring - this is the FL. _________________ Stefan

Thanks Stefan. But my lens is very different then the FL one in video. This one has a single pin rather than a lever and the silver aperture ring is on the front (nose). If I try following the video it does kind of fit (the only position that fits) but the ring just wouldn't turn and it is loose and gets off.
The lens I have is same as this one - http://forum.mflenses.com/selling-my-canon-58mm-f1-2-flsold-t46053,highlight,%2Bcanon+%2Bfl.html
Or this one http://www.ebay.de/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=310372538341#ht_6260wt_1502
Edit. I think there is a problem with thickness of adapter flange? The ring is simply not turning when adapter is in position. Strange as it would turn fine with all my FD lenses. |

Just a guess, but I seem to recall having problems with my FL lens on an FD adapter. IIRC, I had the aperture in the "Auto" position and, if I turned the aperture to the f22 position (or was it the other way round?), the lens ring turned no problem. |

Thanks Martyn,
I just tried all four combinations, aperture in auto and manual and f16 (mine only goes to 16) and f1.2 but no luck. The ring turn fine on its own and with the cap on!
It is very frustrating as I would really like to use this one. |

Blimey!...You paid a lot of money for your adapter! £10.99 with free postage is more the going price (and you will note that they accept offers too, if you want it even cheaper):

But now I might have to buy another one. |

This question has been addressed a few days ago, I think. Your FL lens will fit just fine with the FD adapter, all you need to do is to unscrew the aperture lever control. There's a long screw there. |
I was quite sure you have the adapter with a screw, but I checked the link - seems different. Here's (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Canon-FD-Lens-Sony-NEX-E-NEX-3-NEX-5-Adapter-Ring-/120613416071?pt=UK_Photography_CameraLenses_Lens_caps_hoods_adaptors_ET&hash=item1c151eac87) the one I meant... _________________ Cameras: Canon 5DIII, Zorki-4, Canon AE-1

Yes mine does not have a lever. I thought maybe I need to buy one with it but i guess not. I also found a thread here but I guess this is also with the same pin? http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/readflat.asp?forum=1042&message=38541735&changemode=1 |

The manufacturer got back to me. His old version (which I have) is not compatible with the my lens. So now I need a new adapter. Maybe not such a bad idea as now both 50/1.4 and 55/1.2 can have dedicated adapters.
Thanks everyone for your help. |
