Mamiya C330 Owners

I won one of these on evilbay last night. Hopefully this will satisfy my long hunt for a 6x6 camera.

After trying a few Iskras and almost buying a Pentacon 6 a few times (the last one was in a shop Saturday where I discovered it had a problem with shutter blinds), pondering over Arax cameras (rebuilt Kievs), I decided that Mamiyas may be more reliable, and having the advantage of interchangeable lenses. Usage will be landscape at first, perhaps moving to studio and location portraits.

Apart from the weight, any users have any comments about them?

Congrats, nice and sturdy, but a bit heavy.

Congrats, Martin! The long bellows makes the Mamiya a versatile camera.
I think the C330 cocks the shutter automatically upon film advance, nice.

What lens or lenses are you getting?

Even with the old chrome 80 Sekor you can get fairly close:

expired Portra 800

and the chrome 105 isn't bad for head and shoulders portraits:

I also have the blue dot 80, need to add some more lenses. These are with the
lowly C2, has all-metal construction.

Shocked Shocked Shocked Amazing sharpness on that 1st pic Bill! Tt comes with the 80mm, but I'll add a 135 or 180 if I like the camera.

I need a bag to lug it around in. Any suggestions?

Martin, I have three bags to carry either one or two C2s around.
Look for large camcorder bag on ebay. I have an Eddie Bauer bag
that I used with an old Sony Hi-8 camcorder that fits one Mamiya,
perfectly.

I just got a C330 (and a C220), too! I think Imma gonna keep the 330 along with the 80/2.8 and 65/3.5. The 220 and 135/4.5 will be going.

Oh yeah, did I say I got all of the above for 200 smackers? Smile

They are good cameras and an affordable way to do wide and tele TLR work. That said, I sold mine as I found it unwieldy.

Rolleiflex's are tough to beat in the TLR world. If I want wide or tele medium format, the Hassy with WLF isn't that much heavier!
