M39 for Pentax DSLR

Hi,
I just got a M42 to M39 adapter with some stuff and as I already got a genuine Pentax K to M42 I wonder which lenses I should look for. I know that the flange distance usually is way off for the K-mount but I'm still interested in perfectly working, modifiable and lenses that can work for macro stuff instead. Any suggestions?

The Jupiter ? Sure, why not. You should at least be able to get a close headshot.

Though if my German skills are up to the task that lens got some serious fog on the front element so that lens is a no-no.

The Staeble Telexon - I'm not sure what mount that is. I have seen this type - exactly like this - for the Paxette, so it may be Paxette.

It may be Leica M39 because there seems to be the usual moving ring that contacts the rangefinder probe (other Leica mount lenses had a tongue arrangement) . I don't know if the Paxette mount had something like that too. The fog on the front is probably behind the front element and is probably cleanable, but you can never tell until you try. Its a very pretty lens.

The Paxette lenses seem to be the sort you mean. I can't say, I have never tried this experiment with them.

The Jupiter 12 is in a Contax/Kiev mount. I don't think there is any easy way to adapt it, and in particular that lens as the rear element is meant to go just a few millimeters from the film plane.

The Industar 22 should work as well as any M39 Leica type lens I suppose. I think your infinity will be under 10cm, but thats just a guess.

The Jupiter 12, afaik, indeed it has problems even on some rangefinders due to the protruding part into the camera.
Assuming your M39-M42 adapter is a simple treaded ring this will be trouble with the mirror for this lens.
Also the Industar 22 looks collapsible, so this may be problematic with the mirror as well if you happen to collapse it by accident?

Though I am not 100% sure, that jupiter 11 may actually be a Zenit M39 mount, meaning that a simple double treaded ring adapter may even get you infinity (register distance is about the same as M42 in that case).

Here's something I posted on PentaxForums - I know of four types of lenses with 39mm threads:

1) LTM - Leica threadmount -- these have a register of 28.8mm, much shorter than the Pentax-M42 register of 45.46mm, so they can never focus to infinity on a Pentax camera without either radical surgery or an optical adapter. These are usually sold as being for rangefinders.

2) M39 - These have a register close to or the same as the Pentax-M42 register of 45.46mm. With a simple M39-M42 ring and a thin-flange M42-PK adapter, these work fine on Pentax cameras. They may be promoted as being for SLRs like the Zenit.

3) L39 - These are mainly enlarger lenses, often German or Russian, less commonly from Japan or USA. They have no register as such. L39 lenses longer than 60mm may be used on our SLRs with some sort of extension: tubes, bellows, focusing helicoid, etc. Shorter L39s are only good for macros.

4) Unknown name and application - I've read of some items with 39mm x 0.75mm pitch, whereas all the LTM-M39-L39 lenses have 1mm pitch. I have not encountered any of these. If a 39mm-thread item doesn't screw easily onto an M39 lens or adapter, DO NOT TIGHTEN IT lest you strip the threads.
