I'd posted the same bunch sometime... it's a great resource, these old mags, with their listings and ads!

Very interesting, as always.

What strikes me is not that pretty much every Japanese maker had an entry under an importers brand - some quite strange, like Gnoflex ? - but also that so many were using their own brands - building them at the time.

Besides Yashica, Minolta Ricoh and Mamiya, we have Konica (Tele-Koniflex) and Walz (Walzflex), even Kowa (Kalloflex)
I may have missed a couple, if I am mistaking their house brands with importers brands.

Many Japanese companies were working on their brand recognition quite early.

The Tele-Koniflex with interchangeable lenses looks very interesting. This make doesn't usually come up when discussing these. It must be rather uncommon.

The Minolta Autocord looks like a model to look for, its quite as highly specified as the later Yashicas and I imagine at least as well made.

dof: thanks for nice christmas present!!! that list is great!

luisalegria: minolta autocord is surely better than yashica, both in terms of build quality and lens

The Mamiyaflex is interesting - Zuiko lens and distributed by Nikon!

Ironic that the cheapest camera is the Yashica who went on to make one of the most expensive 35mm SLRs, the Contax RTS series.

A quick Google suggests that the Gnoflex was made by Taiyo-do Optical (Tokyo Optical), what became Topcon.

Very nice! I love TLR's. I hadn't realized quite how old my cherished Rolleiflex 2.8C is.

Agreed the Tele-Koniflex with interchangeable lenses must be rare. Never heard of it!

The TLR of my dreams would be a Rolleiwide. Too spendy for me though.
Sad

Kat, oh what a beautiful machine! It went for about $3850 over my budget!

But then I would have used it which may have downgraded it's appearance!
Mad

Mark, I seriously doubt it, would have been a Renaissance! Smile
