Well I got down to the middle glass element and swapped it around to see if the performance improved just by unscrewing the front dust cover (i.e. part containing lens info)....haven't tested it yet but can't be worse than before I swapped it _________________ Canon A1, AV1, T70 & T90, EOS 300 and EOS300v, Chinon CE and CP-7M. You can use a wide rubber drain plug...but I didn't care about the lens and drilled two indentations, then used a pointed dividers tool.
Note: On rethinking I might have opened the front part then realised it wasn't much use and open the back like you, I didn't bother taking pictures so am relying on my bad memory. _________________ Canon A1, AV1, T70 & T90, EOS 300 and EOS300v, Chinon CE and CP-7M. BTW....... be careful you make a note which way around the middle element goes as an idiot I bought the lens from must have switched it around (of course it could have been an idiot at the factory )
anyway with the element of my lens put in the correct way the results are good for this test shot with the DSB 28mm f2.8 and worth £5 for what I paid for it.
