Beautiful photo, I love the use of lines and vanishing point perspective that UWA lenses can give and this would stand up as an interesting shot even without the boy!
I'm considering a similar zoom as 18mm isn't wide enough for me, but the Pentax 12-24 is looking the favourite. Have you tried it? |

Thanks William! No, I didn't consider the Pentax 12-24. This one just came along, for a reasonable price, second hand. So I decided quickly.... And in the end I am happy with the 2 extra mm's in the lower end.... _________________ Rense

what can you say about this lens, I was going to buy it but was drawn back by the reviews, saying that it's not sharp in corners at any setting... what is your review and can you send me some snapshots on PM

Well... as always: are you a pixelpeeper, or a photographer who wants to use it in real life settings?
The distortion in de edges is, especially with moving objects, noticeable. So, for street shots it is not the easiest lens to use. But for landscapes I like it, and also for architecture. There are lenses with a better corner to corner sharpness, I guess, but it doesn't disturb me....
Here is a link with my photos with this lens on flickr: http://www.flickr.com/photos/rensehaveman/sets/72157627863074512/ Some are cropped slightly though, so there is no original 'corner to corner'.... _________________ Rense

Great picture and some more great images on your flick, you have for sure a good eye (and a good knowledge with PP) and that makes your street shoots so interesting, doesn't matter the lens you use when you've got talent.... _________________ All my lenses are for sale, nikkor, Angenieux, Zeiss etc.....

when i had my original dslr, sony a100, my favorite lens was sigma 10-20mm. like yours, it was sharp, great color and tremendos amount of fun in both lamdscape and street situations. ive recently been enjoying film street work with the 25mm skopar, but have been contemplating the wider digi option of olly 9-18 for ep2. yours is an inspiration. _________________ Epson RD1 + Elmarit 21/2.8; Summarit 50/1.5; Summarit 75/2.5; Elmar-c 90/4; Sankyo Komura 135/2.8, Hektor 135/4.5; Braun Paxina 29 6x6; Photax Boyer Paris; Holga 120 Pano
