I own a few TELEAR lenses though not the 250/5.6.
From my experience they are all of the upper end in quality and I'm thinking the 250 is no exception.

If you're interested, here are a few snaps that I took with a 200/3.5 earlier this fall.

And with a 1.7x TC @ 320mm

Hope this helps.

I had this lens with P6 mount , excellent short lens, smallest medium format lens in this focal length. As you can see on these excellent samples worth to have it. Watch this lens and if you can grab it, don't hesitate much. Kiev88 mount usually go for peanuts , this lens have 2x more price at least than acceptable by me.

I have one. I think the best way to talk about it is in comparison with the other Kiev 250mm, the Jupiter 36V f3.5. In terms of pure sharpness, my copy of the telear was sharper at 5.6 than the jupiter was at 5.6 which is impressive. This assessment was, however, an unscientific test on my Sony a850. It could be that the Jupiter was just harder to keep steady (it's a massive, heavy lens) and suffered from camera shake. With the sony, one is obviously not using these lenses to their designed coverage (6x6).

Sorry I have to run currently. I will add to these thoughts later tonight. Sorry.

I do own one in Kiev 88 (Salyut S) mount, mine is an early one from the 93xxxx s/n batch. Excellent performer altogether.
But I'd agree with Attila, the price in the link is on the high side; mine was bought together with a Mir-26B 3.5/45, both in mint condition & cased, for the equivalent of 110Euro (incl. shipping form Sweden to Greece).

I have a Telear 5.6/250 with Kiev-88-mount. Sharpness is wonderful, the only thing this lens needs is a very long hood as it will flare like crazy when the sun is anywhere else as behind you.

Indeed so! Same with me, I'm using a long 72mm hood with a 62-72 step-up ring, I've found the particular setup to be the most effective (and very cheap as well).

Recieved this lens last week and have some samples to share. Came in Kiev 88 mount which was mounted via a Kiev 88 to Sony Alpha adapter. For a slower speed zoom I like the images it produces mounted on the Sony Alpha 700.

A close to or @f5.6

Best regards

I could not tell you as I have been avoiding Leica or Leica is avoiding me -regardless I have not used any Leica. So I could not concurr on your color commentary Smile .

I have never used any Sigma , altough I did lift The Bigma once , again I could not tell you about CA in Sigma. CA can be produced quite nicely by most lenses if the situation is right -Wink

yeah i get that, i havent used any leica either, and honestly i used only two sigma lenses, and the CA are not as bad **edit: i meant the CA in this lens is not as bad as the sigma's i've used Very Happy **

but its not the main idea as the colors are very saturated and ive read here in the forum that most russians can be quite on par the old leica glass, and becuase of the green/red colors of the oof areas ive made my statement about sigma ca Razz

nevertheless nice samples Smile

Thanks- the weather has been freezing , which is nice as birds are huddling up , but the cold has a nip and it tends to fog up the viewfinder. Very Happy
