gorgeous! not to start a brouhaha, but i'm starting to think that native nikon slr lenses are superior to native canon slr lenses, and i personally have only had experience with canon. but just observing photos on this site i'm coming to that personal opinion.

thanks guys!

@rbelyell: that's why I only have Nikkor MF lenses Wink not that others don't fulfill my expectations, but there's that edge with Nikkor lenses on Nikon cameras, something special, as if they were made for each other Razz

The Nikkor 24/2.8 is an oustanding lens in every aspect. Wonderful scenery, once again!

They're not all excellent: Nikon's Nikkor lenses contain black sheep just like Canon has its paperweights, but overall they're as good as Canon's line-up (except in wide-angles, which is an area Nikon always has had an edge). Canon has many excellent lenses from the same era that the Ai/Ai-S Nikkors many forum members here use, but the four times Canon has changed lens mount vs. Nikon backwards comparison just simply means that we aren't seeing those excellent Canon manual focus lenses put into use and published here.

Similarly: adapting a lens to a register distance it was not designed to bend light to will never produce the same IQ as when used on the native system. Which is why the best Nikkors shine the most when coupled with a Nikon DSLR.
