Minolta 58/1.4 on tubes

I was playing around today & put a Minolta 58/1.4 on 68mm of extension tubes. I also used a ring light that proved not suitable when you have a reflective surface such as this ladybug. Sad







I also shot this bug with a Minolta 50/3.5 macro on a 20mm tube & ring light.

Not bad, but of course a macro-type lens would be better.

Wow, looks like an entirely different bug with that macro lens. You didn't say what apertures were used. Hopefully the 58mm wasn't fully open or even near that, although the image looks poor, so maybe? If you have the light for it, it seems to me that macros should be stopped down as far as you can go since the DOF will be shallow even then.

Both lenses were shot @ f8.
