I made about 200 photos don't know which to show...
I's like lead pouring (an old German tradition)
I had a lot of mushrooms
Some Aliens
Kermit the Frog who eats something?
Some Playstation 3 Themes
Tornados
And mainly stuff where it's hard to decide. Maybe this is a knee?
I also had some very nice women pics which I currently can't find in the 240 others
The Helios 44-2 lens isn't the best because the contrast and flaring issues could be better.
It should be even more fun with an good wide angle lens. _________________ I'm not a collector, I'm a tester

Nice. The exciting part with smoke is you never get the same shots twice. _________________

I've done similar series of shots with fire, the flames are never the same twice and you could shoot for days on end and fill up your hard drive with keepers. _________________ I welcome C&C, editing my pics and reposting them on the forum is fine.

I used a tripod, opened a window and used the more or less dark midnight sky as black background in a nearly completly darkened room.
The flash (old 5€ minolta flash) was connected with a cable to camera and handheld very close to the smoke source. You can see the flash in picture #1, #2 and #4 Some of the pics are crops and rotated.
As said lens was Helios 44-2 58mm F2 @ F16, ISO200 (lowest ISO on may camera) and 1/160s exposure (fastest time with working flash sync)

You can't train it, you have to see it and then press the trigger.
It's nearly impossible to train the smoke into different shapes, especially with an opened window so all shapes were taken simply when they were seen
A good black background (velvet etc.) which absorbes a lot of light might be a good substitute for the sky and a big helper to have more artificial influence. _________________ I'm not a collector, I'm a tester

For shooting the windows was opened
When the flash wasn't positioned close enough it looked more like this
