Hello gentlemen,

i received a used lens, which shows some unusual traces.
My guess is fungus. Shall I be worried?

Looks like fungus to me. If that's all the lens has, it shouldn't affect the picture quality yet. But it should have been mentioned in the sale. How much did you pay?

Looks more like dust / muck with a small bit of haze than fungus to me.

That's an auto-focus lens!

There are disassembly/repair guides online for the plastic fantastic 50/1.8; this looks like another lens.

EF lens on EF-S body, whatever it is, most of the shadow will fall outside the sensor perimeter, probably no effect whatsoever.

It will show in boleh highlights.

+1 but easily start fungus growing on it.

Store it properly on low humidity , bellow 60% 40-50% allow to light throw and enjoy , fungus will never grow.
