The weather was poor today and lighting condition not idea.
Panny G1 at ISO 1600 (sucks at this high ISO, but I have no choice! . I don't think I have done justice to the lens. I need more test in better light.
Just as an IQ bench mark in better weather conditions + better digi body. Here's what I am capable of capturing:
5D + Tarmon 500mm f8 CAT at ISO 1000
The 5D is so superb when it comes to IQ, now I really wish I still have it! |

There was no interest here (non-Zeiss I am afraid! ) until your comment...Thanks.
I can't say that I am very happy with lens, but at the same time I am not disappointed. I think it may have a lot less CA than my Tokina 400/5.6 ATX SD, but in the IQ department they seemed to be more or less on par, which I guess can be taken as very ipressive since they age years apart in production terms. |

The Tamron shot looks very sharp! Not sure about the Leica images to be honest...they look a bit soft, possibly due to the slowish shutter speed? (1/160th)
I reckon in good light they will improve dramatically
P.s. I'm not sure Zeiss lenses get many contributions these days, see my 35/2.8 thread in the main forum _________________ Graham - Moderator

Well, Leica's not exactly looked down on in these parts, I think. Anyway, I think the finches look very nice, the lens seems quite good, particularly considering its age. Is it wide open? Because if it is, I'd say you should be happy… and maybe you need to find a better body

+1 on all your comments. Yes, all wide open!! I can convert the mount to Nikon. If I have a D3, then it would be just perfect for this kind of photography |

1600 ISO, 800mm (with M4/3 sensor), 1/160 th, well, I dont't think you can expect better results than this !....
It's for sure a great lens (I have seen beautiful images on the Net made with this lens) and I'm also pretty sure you wil get much better results with an other cam and/or with better light .... _________________ All my lenses are for sale, nikkor, Angenieux, Zeiss etc.....
