Hi!

Has anyone experience(s) in converting DSRL camera for astro (and IR in general) photography? I'm interested to hear about reliable, fast and moderate pricing companies within EU. I have some email addresses, but the guys there seem to be too busy even to answer Sad I have got and extra 10D for experiments.

Regards,
Seppo

I have done my own DIY infrared conversion on my EOS 350D / Rebel XT - so no own experience with others.

But I heard the best about Rainer Hönle who invented the sensor film sensor cleaning - ask him:

I can recommend Rainer Hönle fullheartedly!

On D50 not so difficult to make it, IR filter is not glued simple to replace it. Filter cost is around 100-200 USD and around 50 USD labor fee here.

Many tutorials how to do it yourself: http://www.lifepixel.com/tutorials/infrared-diy-tutorials

Some poeple were quite successful, I'd rather rely on a company....

The problem will be dust. DIY or even pro's facilities will not be dust free so it's almost guaranteed that you will get dust under the filter, which may or may not bother you.
