Hi folks
I picked this lens up for 99p in brand new, unused condition, it has an unusual two-lug bayonet. Anyone got any idea what the flange focal distance of a Nikonos is? I want to adapt it for use on my NEX. I've been unable to find any info with Google. This 80mm is one of two Nikonos lenses that works in air as well as water. _________________ I don't care who designed it, who made it or what country it comes from - I just enjoy using it! |

I think you stuck there, as not many people would use a lens for diving in this way. |

register should be 28mm, means you take a M39 NEX adapter and fix the Nikonos, i don´t know by drilling a bigger opening or inserting an inlay
not so serious: ...don´t forget the O-ring to the NEX, that the water of the Nikonos isn´t going into the cam _________________ Thomas

Interesting, thanks.
Are you sure it's 28mm? That adapter looks a lot thicker than an M39-NEX one? _________________ I don't care who designed it, who made it or what country it comes from - I just enjoy using it! |

shure ? not shure, i read it in another forum some time ago, when i was searching the same answer as you do now. I also read that the Nikonos lenses need water to get full optical performance, so i left that road and forgot it.
measuring the silver flange ring on my NEX it is around 8mm and the M39 adapter is around 12mm, means by some perspective uncorrectes of the ebay pictures of the flange, it is at least not too far from the M 39 and you should get a reasonable focus range for a first try
if you destroy a M39 adapter because i am totally wrong, i will paypal you a beer _________________ Thomas

I have a Nikonos III and will measure for you later.
To be honest the 4/80 is not so interesting. I'm not sure if it can be used above water.
There are a few lenses but I don't remember which ones other than the f2.5/35mm.
That lens is a fine performer BTW. Sort of wild at wide open becoming quite tame and modern by f4.
get your self a Nikonos II or III. They are cheap as chips and loads of fun. I like mine for the rain or beach.
These cameras brought back many images for the world to see from the Vietnam war. |

Thanks for info guys, much appreciated.
The 4/80 I have is one of the two Nikonos lenses that does work in air as well as water according to info I found.
I might grab a Nikonos, interesting camera for wet weather.
I am aquaphobic however so no chance of me using it in water! _________________ I don't care who designed it, who made it or what country it comes from - I just enjoy using it! |
