A misty day is a great opportunity

Today it was so misty in my town, so I ran upstairs to grab my kit. The gloomy atmosphere was too good to ignore. Here an impression, all taken with a Summicron-R 50/2, just because this lens deserves to be used more often.

Due to the very low contrast, I decided to convert all images to B/W images, but not always 100%. In the last two pics the saturation was not zeroed but around 5-10%. Unfortunately one loses quite some detail when converting to JPG in sRGB, because the tonal subtleties are much better seen in the original images. Especially the black-out and banding in the square picture are a bit disappointing, they are not present in the raw file.

My personal favourite is the second photo, where the vertical lines of the seeds give a strange effect on the scene.

Looks like you had our weather today. The first photo works in conveying the atmosphere but I really love the second. I agree that those verticals are great, they are quite unnatural and look beautiful in disrupting a natural scene. Really works!

Second shot is great. Actually they are all excellent. We hardly ever get misty weather where I am (Japan).

Perfect misty atmosphere shoot, #2 is stunning and also my favourite..... The B&W conversion is for sure a good idea, may be just a little bit more contrast Question .....
