I had this lens sometime ago. Took it out again yesterday and here are some pics.

My Tools: Pentax K200D, Pentacon 30mm 3.5 M42 with adapter to PK.

My opinon :
This glass is prone to glare (none multi coated but good for B&W) so therefore I have to shoot within controlled light situations. Infinity - not so sharp but its turns dead sharp at close range - I think its very good for portraiture.

I like to hear from those who have this lens. Thanks for looking.

Hi Simon

I have exactly the same lens, same markings. I love it, I find it's very good, I don't think it's lacking in sharpness although I have sharped lenses of similar length. I mostly use mine for distance work and I haven't had any flare problems either but I have always used it with a nice deep hood. Also, we very rarely get very strong sun where I live so that makes a difference too.

I wish that was my house, it has a stunning view!

It's the showroom at the local slate quarry.

This is the view from there:

This is my first post in this forum.
I have this lens and love it. It makes such a nice compact kit on the Nex. The bokeh is amazing.
Here is a recent pic.

Can someone tell me how I can embed the image in a message?

Thanks

Thanks Kathmandu - I am also looking for a tominon that you have posted on the other thread.
Looks like it is very rare lens. Did you pay a lot for it?

Yashinon version isn't rare. Lots of great 50mm lenses that will give you great results. Pentacon 1.8/50 is very cheap but has superb bokeh and colours and is pretty sharp.

Ian, yes. I got the Pentacon 50 1.8 and like the rendering of OOF areas.
After I got Nex, actually my LBA has been on steroids, atleast one or two lenses a week. Smile
This forum has been great resource to learn about old good quality lenses.
