I bought this lens @ a pawn shop yesterday for $15 & I think I got what I paid for. Sad It looks in very good condition with very minor cleaning marks on the front element. However, even with post processing the images are just dull looking. All shot @ f4, see what you think.

Yes it is a dull overcast almost raining day - typical for this time of year here.

I mean dead looking, flat, little definition, like it was shot through a sheet of plastic. Here is #2 with no pp.

You must show us comparison with other lens in this weather (possibly such you find better) or shot this one also in nice orange sunset.

A rational approach for sure. I shot it again against two other 28mm lenses. Maybe it is not so bad after-all. All shot @ f4 with hoods on. No pp.

1. Kiron 28/2.8

2. Vivitar (Kiron) 28/2.5

3. Vivitar ( Bauer) 28/2.8

I was surprised the Viv 28/2.5 was poorer so I re-shot with that lens with the same result.

Dull weather = dull colours Smile Seems cheap enough either way! Laughing

Splendid lineup Ron. I enjoy seeing realistic image where you have to try a bit to recognize the subtle differences.
Did you have WB on auto setting or Bauer is that more vivid?

Settings were the same for all three shots, WB = Cloudy.

I favour the Viv. Bauer followed by the Kiron with the Viv. Kiron in last place.

Well I couldn't get much better on a crappy day with a Vivitar 28mm f2.8 Komine close focus, on film:-

The Bauer seemed to me a little contrastier. I like your final results ,Ron .
