This is information mainly for our Finnish members, as consumer legislation and practical reasons make it difficult to provide this service to clients from abroad. For the moment, the website exists only in Finnish but I am going to launch an English version in the coming months.
Would you like to rent manual focus lenses, for shorter or longer periods of time?
Vuokraa objektiivi, kamera tai kuvausvälineitä - lyhyeksi tai pidemmäksi aikaa
Me and a colleague of mine shared frustration that there exists no real rental company, that would rent SLR/DSLR equipment at reasonable rates, to private persons. Being located up North, it is logistically often too slow to hunt equipment on eBay, especially if need arises quickly or the assignment is within 2-4 weeks from moment you notice that you don't have the proper lens for the job.
So we decided to start a camera rental service, and opened it on October 12th, 2011. For the moment we serve clients locally from our Helsinki rental location, but this will expand eventually to cover all of Finland. The principle is very simple: Online booking - local pickup and returns. Keeping the service simple also enables us to provide competitive pricing - unlike pro rental companies we have very small fixed costs and equipment storage is not located at our downtown office (for financial and security reasons).
While the existing rental equipment is built around Nikon's F-mount (consisting of Nikon and Voigtländer SL lenses), we will continue expanding and deepening the inventory (including other systems and cross-system adapters). Likewise, the website and booking service will see a lot of natural evolution in the coming weeks.
You can browse the rental equipment including manual focus lenses here (as mentioned, it's all in Finnish at the moment)

main page is here: http://vuokrakamera.fi
Comments and suggestions for improvement are welcome - I intend to develop the service and inventory according to demand and requests.
Vilhelm

well I see that googletranslate from finnish->english works even worse than czech->english
I would suggest also renting some tripods or filters. as a film user I can imagine that if someone wants to rent a film camera, he would also like to buy some film.
wish best luck with this service! _________________ equipment doesn´t count, good photographs do |

Google Translate is quite terrible yes
Tripods, filters and other accessories will be added, they are the natural next step after adding the basic components (lenses). For the time being, we include filters as accessories to the lenses but I am thinking of adding them as separate items as well. Tripods and monopods follow superteles, but I will also add these as items for separate rental.
Thank you for the encouragement. I hope the initial demand will be sufficient to develop this into something that can serve a wider range of customers. |

Try to catch foreign visitors also with English translation. Lensrental.fi domain perhaps helps a lot. _________________ -------------------------------

Congratulations Vilhelm! Good move and I'm sure there will be quite a few clients soon!
The film companies I work with ALWAYS rent their equipment, so I'm sure there is a market! _________________ Klaus - Admin
