I visited this development as a part of London Open House weekend where a lot of places not usually open to the public open their doors and give tours. There was also a free small boat across the river Thames.

Shipping containers were used when this development was set up because they were a lot cheaper to build with. Most of the containers are used for artists' studios:

Conveniently an American diner was imported in the 1940s so I had lunch there:







This is the only lighthouse in London. The physicist Michael Faraday conducted experiments on electricity in it in the 19th century.



It has views over the river which have changed considerably in the last 30 years especially since before the 80s Docklands development and the o2 (Millennium Dome) were built:

Maybe it's me but until the last one the contrast and colours seems quite muted? Nice images though and I particularly like the one of the coiled ropes - no.4.
