Is there any easy way of aligning one of these? I have it apart to relube, but I'm no doing the trial and error business of getting it back together so that the I can focus properly.

Yes, they are easy, this was my 3rd experience. The annoying bit is correctly aligning everything so that it reaches infinity as there are many combinations on the threads. I got there after about 30 mins of trying different ways.
