Usually, for astroimaging, wider angle lenses like this need to be stopped down to f/2.8, or even f/4. My usual goal is to find lenses that are good for astro at f/2.8. It would be great to find one that would work at f/2 -- probably something like an 85mm lens, though.
Someday I'll get around to astro-testing out the 50's I have. I'll do tests on a clear night with a bright moon, so as not to waste a good imaging night. _________________
