It just seems to be so sharp with these settings coming out as straight JPG
This was taken today at work
F5.6 with the Yashica ML
Absolutley no Procesing done

The detail in the fencing is just amazing

I have NEX-3 with 16/2.8. Firmware v.4. No adapters yet for manual glass.

Default settings seems to make overexposed image. But when I shoot RAW+jpg, the raw will be underexposed. (I'm using Ufraw with default settings).

Is Sony software worth installing?

This camera seems much more difficult to use than Pentax DSLR. I really need to read the manual Shocked

Riku, i used to think the same but once a few settings have been applied the camera is great and very easy to use with everything at the fingertip.
Try the following setup for manual lenses
Menu Setup
AF Iluminator= off
auto review=2sec
grid line=on
peaking level= low ( i do change this setting depending on time of day as high works better in darker situations)
peaking colour= yellow
histogram=on
mf assist= no limit
color assist=srgb
release w/o lens=Enable
long exposure nr= off
High ISO NR Auto
Movie Audio Rec=on

Soft Ket Settings (these are what make the camera so much better)

Soft key b= mf assist
Soft key c= Custom (This changes the behaviour of the centre button)
Custom1= Creative Style
Custom 2= DRO/Auto HDR
Custom 3=Metering Mode

Main Settings
Menu Start Previous
Beep=OFF

Ok so with these settings now the centre wheel becomes a custom and 1 press brings up the settings mode, a press to the right or left modifies the custom setting to either creative style, DRO/Auto hdr, or metering mode

This makes teh camera a lot easier to operate and not have to go through a lot of settings

Few questions:

-difference between "auto" and "weak" noise reduction? At what ISO it kicks in? I have always turned NR off in fear of losing detail.
-do you use different "creative modes" accordingly and do they help? I always used the same "standard" setting on Pentax k-x, only with -1 sharpness. I'd like to shoot jpg for convenience...
