Not that I'm skilled at using long telephotos, but I couldn't help myself when I found a nice one (with original caps and case) for $95 shipped. It will be my longest (and heaviest) lens. Also just my 2nd 77mm filter lens. The SMC version seems to be pretty scarce, and if nothing else it should be worth 2x-3x what I paid for it.
I'm curious to see how it performs at closer than 8 meters on extension tubes.
Photos of (and with) the lens coming. Watch this space! _________________ DSLR: Pentax K-3 II, D-BG5 grip, SLR: Pentax SP500, Pentax SP, Pentax SP II, Pentax Spotmatic F, MX, ME-Super, Super Program, pZ-1

Who says that the 800cm minimum focus distance of the 400mm Takumar makes it inadequate for birding?

Next time, I'll try to include an actual bird. _________________ DSLR: Pentax K-3 II, D-BG5 grip, SLR: Pentax SP500, Pentax SP, Pentax SP II, Pentax Spotmatic F, MX, ME-Super, Super Program, pZ-1

Well, that sounds promising! With Penrax-K extension tubes you can get faster variations in closer focusing, better then M42 rings, but not that cheap ofcourse. |
