Hello all. Fist post here. Please excuse me if I am posting in the wrong section.

I just for a M42 to EOS adapter for my 7D and 5D, so I went to some local shops looking for M42 lenses. I found a Mamiya 200mm f/3.5 for $30. Should I run back up there and pick it up. Seems like it would be a good buy.

Yes, go back and get it.

That Mamiya 200mm is a good one, most 200mm lenses you will see for that price will be not as good by a fair margin imho, I have 6 or 7 crappy 200s I got cheap, none are very good so I went and bought a Pentacon 4/200, could have saved myself a lot of time and a fair bit of money if I'd just got a good 200 to begin with.

It is probably the Tokina made Soligor/Vivitar/Sears/Lentar/Rikenon/Your Name Here! lens. It's a good performer IMO and Mamiya may have insisted on better quality control before their name went on. $30 seems a good price if all is iin order.

great! I will go back up there and get it tomorrow. Should be a nice addition and something fun to play with.

Well, which one is it? 3 types on bottom link and another on additional.
Besides Tokina, Tomioka and Komine also come to my mind.
