hello all,

I've got myself a Tokina RMC 28mm 2.8 in a fairly good condition, dirt cheap. the seller claimed that the aperture ring is stuck and indeed it was. tho A/M swich was stuck too and there was no infinity focus aswell. i tought it wouldn't be much of a problem as i managed to align propperly all of my dissassembled lenses. after cleaning and relubing the lens i have struggled to align the helicoid. and this is my problem. i have no idea how to align the lens and after assembly the farther focal distance i can acheive is about 4 meters. the lens won't focus past that.

did enyone had a smililar problem to mine or know how to fix that? i would love to have this lens fully funcionating as i love the images it produces.

thanks in advance for all the help

Many people who had this problem!

Helical threads have multiple starting positions. Usually the correct starting position is noted on disassembly. Otherwise, try each starting position until you find lens focuses to infinity.

Methodical 'trial and error'. Mark where it is now, take it apart and try it in the next thread. If it works - well done. If it doesn't, mark it and try the next thread.........

thats the thing. trial and error doesnt work. i have ran out of options. i know that the previous owner have disassembeld it and reassempled it wrong and i thought it wouldnt be a problem as i have repaired few lenses already. i'll try it few times and will decide weather ill sell the lens or get a short adapter for A6000.

anyway. thanks for help Smile

My guess is that the main helicoid is not screwed in deep enough. When that happens you won't reach infinity no matter how you connect the helicoids. Take the helicoids apart, screw the main helicoid all the way in, then give it a full 360° turn out. That should give you a reasonable starting point for connecting inner helicoid.
