Today i received a nice package. I hesitated buying it for a while because it wasn't cheap (but compared to some ebay-prices also not really expensive).
I paid 90 euros for it, but i got really excited when i unpacked it. It is absolutely spotless, no sign of it ever being used on it. Not one scratch or paint-chip.

i haven't got around to using it, mainly because it doesn't seem to fit my adapter very good. When i turn it on the adapter, the aperture-ring turns only very hard, wich results loosening from the adapter instead of changing aperture. It does work though, only seems to be too tight.
Does any of you have any experience with this lens and an EOS-adapter?

greetings,

Willem

Hi Willem.
I think you'd better add to your post title that this is a 1.4/50mm Macro Takumar. Wink

I have no experience with it but it should be very good.

Congrats, Willem ! Smile

Thanx, maybe i should because it's actually the 4/50 macro, not the 1.4/50
So it's a little more 'exotic' Smile

No problems with any M42 to EOS or m4/3 or NEX adapter. It is a fine lens with great potential.

I didn't see this topic dated august 2009.
Very nice pictures, Rolf.

@Willem, does your M42-EOS have 'flange' to depress diaphragm pin, or no? Maybe flange does jam aperture ring? Aperture ring resistance to turn should be same on or off adapter...

Awesome excellent lens imho! Very Happy

Very good lens...you are lucky to find one in that good of a condition.

If I may pick a little nit here... your fine new lens is an Asahi S-M-C (Super-Multi-Coated) version, not an SMC. Various other Taks were labeled Super, then S-M-C, then SMC, but the MacTak's evolution didn't go that far. Yes, just a very small nit...

That is a good price for a great lens. Yours is the later 1:2 version. I got an earlier 1:1 Macro-Takumar (no Super, no S-M-C) for about half your cost, but the body of mine is a bit battered and dented. I had to warp the front thread back to true. It still works like a champ! Awesomely sharp, zero distortion, legendary rugged Asahi build.

My one quibble is the focus throw. On mine, changing focus from 1m to infinity takes about 1/15 turn or less. On my SuperTak 50/1.4 it's about 1/4 turn. So, focusing beyond 1m is dicey. Wide-op, this is NOT a good street lens! I tried shooting a shaded craft fair and could not get one well-focused shot beyond 1m. Ugh. Does your 1:2 version have a longer throw?

You'll have fun!

Off course you may pick nits Smile
I was already confused with all the different names and spellings. Now i know!
It the weather lets me, i'll take it out today and post my findings about the focusing. On some unsharp test-shot last night i already saw the colours are brilliant!
