How to fix stiff focus ring

Hello all,
I bought a couple of lenses, and both have very stiff fosus ring.
Looks to me, these were not used for a while. May be the grease has gone dry/stiff.
Is there any way to soften up the rings without dismentling the lens. Already lost 4 lenses doing that
How about heating the lens to loosen the grease?

I had a contax with quite stiff focus. I let it 3 hours in the sun, playing a little with the barrel every hour and now it's work nice.
I see you are cloudy till Wednesday in Sydney, but still 23C is too low

There is no shortage of hot sun in Aus especially this time of the year.
