In my nex 3 is ver00 How does it set another version? Does it matter ?

I didn't see mine, I just upgrade it to latest one to get latest features.

the firmware is seperate http://esupport.sony.com/perl/swu-download.pl?upd_id=6190&mdl=LAEA1
Not needed unless you have the official sony alpha adaptor i believe or one of the lenses listed
