I'd go with #2 composition wise.

I don't get the impression that the lens is very useful for such kind of pictures.

That's correct, the lens isn't much of a distance or landscape tool. However, Pancolart's pictures do show some good sharpness for a lens of this focal length and wide aperture. As for composition, they are all bad.
