I am rather partial to this little lens they call a Macro 1:5, I call it a close focus lens. Today I was shooting this flower with the lens wide open
When a bee landed on a more distant flower. The camera was on a ball head on a tripod which allowed me to quickly swing the camera to the other flower. Since the image was rather small I have cropped the shot down.
I was surprised @ the detail in the cropped version & I decided to crop even more to see the result.
I got this lens new last December for 40C$ from a photo shop going out of business .
Here is another pic taken a couple weeks ago with this lens on a Vivitar 2x tele-converter.

This lens had a great reputation when it was sold.
I just read a report in an old German magazine the other day in which is was praised as an excellent and affordable alternative to OEM lenses! _________________ Personal forum activity on pause every now and again (due to job obligations)!

I too have the Tokina version of the 24mm and find it very sharp. I've done a mount conversion, but am off some on the registration distance, so need to correct that to reach infinity.

I've just got mine today (Tokina version) and the first thing I noticed was how sharp it is. Even at 100% crop. I think I am going to love this lens !
These are taken out of my office window, only PP Curves.

#2 : 100% crop

The Cosina version looks good for close ups. I had the Vivitar TX version (Tokina) and although good in the centre, it was poor in the corners which is why I sold it in the end...I wanted it for landscapes. _________________ Graham - Moderator
