I've got recently second version of Elmarit-R 2.8/135, but there is something weird with this lens. I didn't found any serial number on it.
It is 2 cam version with System VII filter. So probably early second version - optics is different to my first version Germany made Elmarit.
Any ideas what does this mean? Or for what purpose was this lens build?
On filtr ring is only "LEITZ CANADA ELMARIT-R 2.8/135"
Otherwise it looks normal, on bottom end is "Lens made in Canada"

That's a nice find. Maybe this lens left the factory in pieces....

A prototype was first what crosses my mind, but Leica prototype lenses usually have SN which starts with zeros.
I forgot to mention, that front optical block and aperture/optics barrel have same hand written number (146 or 176, don't remember), so at least this part was probably assembled and adjusted in factory.
Klaus mentioned parts and this brings me to more modest explanation. The lens looks like it was already serviced. Maybe the filter ring is just a spare part which replaced original ring with damaged filter thread and the service was done in non-Leica workshop. Where they don't engraved SN to new ring. _________________ .: APO-Maniac :. |

Don't believe that Leica would give away any blank unnumbered name rings to a non-Leitz repair shop.
