Hi All
Been sick these last few days, so been playing with my lenses. (hope I don't go blind)
Just playing to see if the 400mm was any good and I was quite surprised
Firstly to put things into perspective this is the view from the bedroom window shot with a 28mm vivitar(42mm equiv FL on the nex-5) this morning, the arrow points to the target.
[28mm]
Shot from 400mm:
F7.5
1/2000 (yes as I was shooting hand hold.)
Shot jpeg, yesterday afternood/everning.
Crop of above:

Decent lens
Very small and light for a 400mm
Rather dim - understandable for an f/7.5
Long minimum focus, so use extension rings if you want to use it under 10 meters.
Good alternative to a 500mm mirror lens, or the cheaper ones anyway. I like the results better at least.

Very impressive when compared to a 28mm but a 50mm comparison would be more meaningful. _________________ Ron

50mm because this is Normal human view...or another reason?
I'm using a nex-5 with a 1.5 crop so 28mm is 42mm or quite close to 50. |
