OM-2N metering and mount question

Hello film experts,

I was wondering if there might be something wrong with my OM-2n body.

Is the tab just below the top screw of the mount (next to the scratch) supposed to move freely? I suppose this to compensate the metering readout when the lens is stopped down. Mine moves only anti-clockwise when I turn the manual exposure ring.

What should I do?

I know this is of little consequence of aperture priority, as the metering is determined when the mirror flips up, but is good to know whether I can still use a lens in certain light, without causing a completely blurred photograph.

Thanks a bunch,
Mike

I just looked it up in the service manual and I think the part is called the "dial gear". Maybe if someone has an OM-2 body they can just fiddle with it.

On my OM2s I couldn't find that tab for a while --- it's normal spot should be next to the red dot on the mount, and it is spring loaded to return there... yours is at the extreme position possible.

Ah, darn. Thanks for having a look. Maybe my spring is broken, or it needs some lubricant, as there is quite some friction.
