I´m interested in Russian interchangeable A-mount lenses, because with a suitable T2 adapter ring they can be mounted on a Nikon body and focus to infinity.
How about Mir-10A 28 mm lens? I couldn´t find any samples with the search function. Any first hand experiences? _________________ Markku

They did make Nikon mount ones though, some of the common SLR lenses like the Mir-1 are easy to find in Nikon fit. _________________ I don't care who designed it, who made it or what country it comes from - I just enjoy using it! |

Orio had one, and I think that he published some samples on this forum. _________________ John |

OK, but the A mount lenses (Jupiter 11A, Tair 11A, etc) have a removable mount which can be replaced by the outer ring of a Nikon-T2 adapter thus providing a Nikon mount.

Have you ever seen a MIR 1 in Nikon mount ? There is a MIR 1A, which has a removable mount as described above. But it seems to be quite rare - at least on ebay. _________________ John |

I like the lens quite a bit. Very industrial feeling. 8/7 element/group design. Has the star-shaped aperture like the Volna 9 and Industar 61 L/Z. I don't know if it was a German copy...I don't see anything comparable in their line-up. It's really made for close-ups because it can focus to 0.2m. Not many 28mms have this feature. The only downside is the large front element and single coating. It needs a good hood and technique to get the most out of it.
This was Tri-X 400 if I remember correctly...Fujica st701.

Thank you for the replies.
Nice pics, Marc.
I know of these A-mount lenses:
Mir-10A 3.5/28
Jupiter-11A 4/135
Tair-11A 2.8/135
Jupiter-21A 4/200
Jupiter-37A 135/3,5 - I´ve got this one.
These also exist, but some of them are really rare...
- Mir-14A 3.5/24
- Jupiter-9A 2.0/85 - I´interested in this one, too
- Vega-14A 2.8/100
- Telemar-22A 5.6/200
- MTO 500A 8/500 mirror
- ZM-5A 8/500 mirror
But I have not heard about Mir-1A. _________________ Markku

Thank You John for the link. This was news to me.
Looks like a nice copy, but I like Russian lenses mainly for their low prices,
this one seems pricey. _________________ Markku

Image quality is on par with any good common Mir 1B (V). It just can focus to .24m because of redesigned mechanics.
In response to Attila's examples, the Mir 10A is not fantastic at these distances. Average sure, but not stellar. It was engineered for close-ups i think. |
