The heady stench of vodka is still in the air as the Helios is still a bit high and twirly - defocused, it says.

Wanted an unique, dark moody grunge sort-of look to a shoot I did recently, and thought what better way than to use the Helios!

The faces of the Indian metal band - Bhayanak Maut (literally translates to horrific death)

Good sound and good people.

Here are a few. More at the link!

Cheers!

I'm not keen on the way this is lit to be honest. The background in the 1st is not the best choice.

Sorry!

They are doesn't look good in my opinion too.

Great poses! But I agree, the technique is not quite right. Perhaps next time expose for longer and boost contrast afterwards to make them look moody.

Okay, but I think you need one more light source on there faces to make it dynamic.

Also, I would have never known this was a metal band from these images, or even a band at all. Your words did more to sell your subject than your photos did.

Critique appreciated guys.

Agreed. More light would've been good but the thing is these images were secondary to the main story as such, so just went wild doing whatever i thought looked cool. The main story was them testing out a new van as a band wagon.

Maybe Ill get a hold of the PDFs so that you could get the entire picture.

I just posted to have more actual work from the Helios posted.

This wasn't lit at all. We just had crappy ol dim tubelights as light sources.

Had my Rebel XT lying around with a helios on it, so thought it would look cool with a vintage lens, instead of the 'perfect' 5DMKII + 24-70 setup.
