Hy!
I am newbie in manual lenses, and I have an odds to by a CZJ Sonnar 135/3,5 zebra version.
The lens looks good optical/mechanical, the price is 100$.
What you say for this price its ok? + I want to ask what is the difference between mc , zebra, electric versions in optical aspect.
If I rise the cost to 100 euro, I get a pentacon mc 50/1,8 too.
what you says, worth it that money? thanks

p.s. I now for what Y want to use this lenses, anyway I want to buy a 135 mm lens (sonnar, jupiter 37A or pentacon), the question is the prices is too much or not.
thank
(sorry for my english)

Answering your questions regarding Sonnar 3.5/135 --

I think the price is OK - depends on the item -- if it's fully OK and all is guaranteed - than go for it..

Well, I found the zebra version to be just as good as the MC version with lots of contrast Smile However, I didn't point it at the sun! 100 euro is a lot though. I would have thought about 75 euro is a fair price for an excellent copy of the MC lens, the zebra version is typically cheaper.

However, the Jupiter 37A with MC is also excellent (a copy) and MUCH cheaper. Up to you!

Thanks for advice! The true is, I can buy a the Jupiter at 55-60 euro, the sonnar at 85 euro, and for 100 euro the sonar + pentacon auto mc 50/1.8.
Unfortunately here (Romania) that are the prices Sad, I think because to use a m42 lens on dslr become here a "fasion" to.

If the Pentacon is fully working (make sure te aperture blades work!) then that is also a decent lens. You've then got a pretty good deal Smile

The oldest Zebra 3,5/135 is a vey good lens.
Both have the same schame.

I had both. Almost the same lens, but prefer the Zebra version. Better build that the MC version. Nice mechanism to continue using the same apertura in close up images. (you know which aperture was used in close up pics, no matter no conections with the cam). High contrast, Almost no vignetting at all at F/3,5. Excelent flare resistance. And a bit better resolving power than the MC (in my copies, al least).

In the other hand, the MC has a bit more neutral colors. But it lacks the good build. Beware with the diafragm mechanism, it should be so crapp.

I read in one magazine an interview where the optic especialist said that the new (at the moment) MC lenses that dind't be modificate in the formula, should lost a bit in resolution performance. I don't know if it's true, but my copies of the MC were less sharp than the Zebra ones.

Rino.

Thanks for the advices, my really problem is: the objectives are far from me, so I can just ordered it, plus I have already a helios 44 58/2 objectiv, so I d` not know if worth it to buy a pentacon auto to.
Eventually I will see, thanks anyway.

Salut!

Prices in Romania are high when you buy from resellers. Try to visit flea markets or buy from newspaper private anouncement. (Anunturi, mica publicitate.)

Or most simply buy from ebay. Even with transport fees you will pay only a part of what these bloodsuckers in Romania are asking. Let them sit on their "treasures". Maybe they will realise we live globalised and even in Romania it's not a problem to buy from abroad.

The Sonnar is a great lens whichever version you buy. I had the Jupiter 37A and sold it straight away. It was good but not outstanding and not as sharp as the Sonnar.

to Eugen:
Thanks for advices, I know that things, so I visit dense Ebay. You have right about the "bloodsuckers", but many people have concern of dealing in net, like Ebay, and others,.... trust in others?!!

because I never used Sonnar/Jupiter I do not knot how it works, I just wanna to try, know I have a tamron 18-250 if macro, (something like that) on a canon 1000d, + a helios 58/2 with adapter with af confirmation, and I see more saturated colors, loveable contrast with helios, against to tamron at 58 mm.
And the sonnar is most lauded, more expensive lens like helios, for that I want to try, I like experiments:)

to martinsmith99:
accidental You ar not on Ebay with martin42mm nickname?

To be honest I confess more into an unknown person abroad than in a romanian "bisnitar". And you have the rating on ebay. But in the end the most risk free way is to talk to the seller. Abroad or in Romania. You can foresee a lot of things from how he talks.
Where are you from? I mean which city. I have the Jupiter (but in Contax mount) and the other lenses (in M42) you are curious about.

I am from Cluj. And yes I am curious. Use you yahoo mess?
Honestly I asked for these things, just because I am curious about the short tele lens, becouse my 18-250 tamron is not satisfy me enough. So I am curious:)

With so much praising I see the situation coming where the aluminium version would be as or even more expensive than the MC. Same paradox situation as with the Yashicamats selling now at higher prices than the originals. (Rolleiflex)
