Dear all,
I just received a nice and supercompact 135/225mm set that I was willing for my Nex (Jupiter in the picture for size comparison).
It was sold as M39/LTM and in fact the final ring is M39 but... with my adapters the 135 does not focus, while the 225 is able to.
Any ideas?
Thanks,

Its certainly not M39 and was never made for any sort of Leica.
This thing has a predecessor of the T-mount, in this case its a fine 37mm thread, not the coarse 39mm thread for a Leica screw.
It was meant as an SLR lens and would take its own series of interchangeable mount adapters (just like T-mounts, but smaller) that screwed into the 37mm thread.

These adapters were available for Exakta, M42 and Miranda screw mounts

You can search here for many posts about this lens and its variants. Its a fairly common lens for its day.

Some of mine -

You may actually have the M42 mount - the ring in front.

Thanks, in the meantime I solved the riddle. The ring in front is indeed a M37->M39 ring (sold together), with which I was able to mount it on a M39-Nex adapter (however in this condition I was not able to focus). However, freelensing on a M42 adapter allowed me to focus.
The lens was sold as Leica/Contax/Zenit - I focused (pun intended) on the first word and forgot the others. Pity - it is really tiny. Fortunately I spent not too much and is beautiful.

Yes, it's a great little lens combo. I have Tamron's Spectra version....140mm f/4.5 and 1.79x teleconverter.
Definitely M42. A super performing lens, given its size and age.

I passed the note on this to a friend of mine who collects old Tamrons (not a forum member).
I forgot him mentioning last year or so that he had found an M39 adapter for this lens, with the M42 register.

Which sounded very strange to me.

So this is an unusual but not unique case. He suggests that it may have been intended for the earlier Zenits, which were M39 with (nearly) M42 register. He has tested it on his M39 Zenit and it fits perfectly and the register is spot on.

This lens came out in 1958 and I think was being sold into the mid-1960's, so its certainly not out of the question, as Zenits may have been exported to Europe at that time.

So you have a fairly odd item there.

Luis: thanks for the confirmation (it is was I feared). When I saw it I decided that was perfect for my Nex - two tele in few centimeters... the ideal complement to Industar 69 and 22.
Maybe with a macro ring instead of an adapter I could obtain a less cumbersome package.
WNG: very beatiful also in aluminium! However I like it much also in zebra dress.
