If you find its 'eye' you can then make out the snout, other eye, ears and well, it looks to me like a sheep's head overgrown with moss but I checked and it is just moss and decay on old tree-roots in a local forest...

Maybe your sheep are really camels...  I have a tree photo somewhere that looks like a demon....not that I have seen one personally...
