I WILL ADD IMAGES TO THIS THREAD AS I GET THEM, RATHER THAN
MAKING YET MORE THREADS. IT ALREADY LOOKS LIKE I HAVE
HIJACKED THIS THREAD TOPIC. Confused

Decided to experiment, and stay with ISO 5000 and 6400, which are the
highest I would ever go in a pinch. ISO 12400 is just too crappy, but
I shouldn't be surprised about that. Laughing

So, I programmed the camera to only use auto-ISO between 5000 and
6400, with no minimum or maximum shutter speed.

A few times, I had to select the ND 3-stop filter when I got a warning
from the camera.

Anyway, here's an ISO5000 jpeg shot of my Fucshia. Processed
for Curves, and USM in Photoshop. Used in-camera noise suppression
set to Medium. Added +5 Hue to the magenta channel to bring the
flower to its true color. This all took only a few seconds. No special
film emulation in-camera.

5000

Another from a flower pot on a chair. USM at 2/2.7/16. In-camera
noise supression at High.
5000

You can see some noise problems in the rim of the flower pot and a
couple of other places. In-camera noise supression at High. This one
would need a bit of NeatImage before showing. It probably could also
use some USM, but I think that would bring the noise out more.
6400

Nice clean results in good light! That is to be reasonably expected though. The real torture test will be shooting in the dark with lots of shadows Smile

Hey! Thanks for the reminder...so basically, I should go out at dusk and
maybe at full nighttime, and give it a try? Do I need moonlight? Or are
we just talking about "pure" darkness? I'm not sure what you mean, but
I'm assuming taking a tripod and trying a long exposure to see the
amount of noise and aberrations.

Sorry Laurence, I didn't come across very clearly (it was late Laughing ). It would be interesting to see some low light shots outdoors, as the sun is going down perhaps, proving that the high ISO will still allow you to shoot handheld Smile Or some indoor shots at night under bulbs where light is natually low anyway.

I have to say, it looks a fabulous camera either way, congrats!!!
